CASE STUDY

1. The Challenge

Richmond’s youth were facing deeply rooted systemic challenges—malnutrition, gang violence, incarceration, and limited educational opportunity. Kinfolk Communities needed a bold, transformative campaign to educate, uplift, and reconnect families while offering new, healthy paths forward.

2. Our Approach

StudioBDC partnered with Kinfolk and key community leaders—including Mayor Levar Stoney and Superintendent Jason Kamras—to produce a multi-layered educational campaign focused on storytelling, empowerment, and visibility:
 

Video Series: Ten impactful videos featuring educators and community voices that made health and nutrition both relatable and actionable

Branding: A new visual identity to represent resilience, unity, and hope

Outreach Campaigns: Strategic promotions to drive turnout at workshops, events, and family-centered programming

3. The Results

The campaign’s success was reflected in renewed energy, stronger engagement, and tangible community impact:

A surge in new families accessing Kinfolk’s programs and support

 

Youth were provided alternatives to harmful cycles, building a sense of purpose and resilience
